Mystery Stop to Podium For Rosberg!

The qualifier session started as usual for the German Grand Prix, bright and sunny and the track looked very inviting and the drivers did not ask for a better day. The Practice sessions usualy shows the genereal trend of the grand prix weekend but this time it did not follow the general trend. Rosberg seemed to have got the trick for the race and brocken the Hamilton Jinx. Hamilton showed the pace in the practice sessions but some how Rosberg got the pole on the German GP.

Mystery Stop just 5 mins before time out in Q1

Rosberg pits just after the out lap on the Q1 session and suddenly when he is about to set a time he pits in. and I think changed the tyres to new slik tyres or some temperature adjustment of the brakes. And just like the wind he goes out and puts just one lap and makes it the best times in just a hundredth of a second. I think it was simply just amazing and it was a well planed, He was nodding his head just before the session even began. The cameras caught the glimple of it. And as usual the biased F1 commentator who is a secret Hamilton Fan. Started to say things like "nods for Rosberg, was there a concern" .

But Rosberg used the home advantage to get to the pole of the German Gp. I sincerely thought that he may not be able to do it, because he was struggling to get the grip of the track. But some how he did it. It is just the matter of what he does in the race. And it is a good chance to cash in the opportunity and the position and win the race to be back on the championship lead.

It would rather be exciting to see, if Nico bounces back on the championship and hamilton is made to chase. Otherwise it will not be an exciting Championship fight.

Slik tyre stratagy for the German GP.

In Q2 suddenly the teams shifted to the silk tyres, In theQ2 session the fastest time put on the board on the respective tyre will be the start tyre on the grid. So people got on the silk tyres. It seems that the teams have quickly shifted to the Red slick tyres as to the soft yellow tyres of the compound white tyres. The teams, I think feel that the tyre wear is compensated with the time advantage to the other cars on the grid. The yellow tyres are more resistant to the degradation but will not have the exponential advantage in times.

Is the Slick the new black?

It sure seems to be the case. The Teams know that if they are on the slick then the other teams will also be on the slick and will pit in with the same frequency as them. So there is no loss on the time.
But if you are a race engineer and you think of going on the Yellow or the White and think that, you will undercut the others on the Slicks as they pit more. YOU are Wrong?

The other cars may pit more but they will catch up to you faster that you may think. And you going in the pits is more costly than them.

This seems to be an efficient stratagy. What do you guys think?
